project 1: My First definition

     Hello,

Okay, so working on this project wasn't exactly the easiest thing for me. I missed the first day of class because caught the flu, so I was already starting off on the wrong foot. That said, I actually found that following the tutorials at my own pace helped a ton. It gave me time to really go over everything, redo steps, and figure out what I was doing. The only problem was, when I got stuck, I really got stuck. Luckily, I've got a few friends who've taken this class before, and they were super helpful when it came to learning the basics of Grasshopper.

also So, one of the biggest issues I had with this assignment was the camera settings in Rhino. I think I messed with them at some point over the summer, and it just caused so many problems. The camera kept locking onto the wrong objects, and sometimes I couldn’t even move around a mesh properly. It was super frustrating to deal with while trying to work on everything.

I also had some issues with grasshopper where my mesh size would just not change no matter what I would do. So, I would just have to redo it, and the mesh would kind of work

I also ended up digging through my old notes for Rhino shortcuts because, wow, I felt rusty. I haven't taken a Rhino class in, like, two years. I've played around with it a bit here and there, but not enough to feel confident. It was frustrating at first, but once I started doing things I actually liked it, it felt a lot better. Seeing progress really gave me the energy to keep going.

Originally, I had this big idea to make a flowerpot in a basket. I realized pretty quickly that it was way too ambitious for someone who barely knows Grasshopper.

So, I switched gears and decided to just work with flowers instead of figured it'd be easier. That's when I came up with the idea of creating a light fixture where the lights and their covers looked like flowers.

It ended up being really fun! I sketched out a ton of ideas first, trying to picture how they'd work in 3D. Honestly, I was kind of modeling it all in my head before jumping into Rhino and Grasshopper. From there, it was just a lot of experimenting and figuring out how to use the tools we were given this week. It was a bit of a rollercoaster.
